ITINERARY

DAY 1

Your adventure kicks off with a hearty breakfast at the guesthouse before your guide arrives at 9:00 AM. The day starts with a tranquil stroll beside the river, gradually leading you uphill through expansive rubber plantations. As you venture deeper, your guide will take you to the gateway of Gunung Leuser National Park, a lush haven teeming with unique plants and wildlife.

Inside the forest, keep your eyes peeled for semi-wild Sumatran Orangutans. Many are familiar with humans, thanks to the trail’s popularity among visitors. Watching them swing through the trees, nurture their young, and navigate the dense rainforest is a magical experience you’ll cherish forever.

The trek continues along jungle paths, pausing for a refreshing break with tropical fruits. Then, you’ll hike for another hour to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the stunning Bohorok River valley, with Gunung Leuser National Park rising grandly in the background.

Following a peaceful forest lunch, you’ll head to your campsite, possibly spotting Long-tailed Macaques, Pig-tailed Macaques, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, or Monitor Lizards along the way. By 4:00 PM, you’ll reach the campsite—nestled near a waterfall or a crystal-clear river—where you can unwind with a hot drink or a swim.

Your guide will cook a flavorful jungle feast, featuring curry, rice, and other local delights. As evening falls, gather around the campfire to share stories, play cards, or simply soak in the jungle’s symphony before retiring to your tent, sheltered by bamboo and the sounds of the wild.

DAY 2

Awaken refreshed to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a homemade breakfast before setting out. Today’s 3-hour trek winds through dense foliage, with pauses to observe wildlife. Lunch is a serene affair, immersed in nature’s chorus, followed by another 3-hour hike to the next campsite.

Upon arrival, relax by the river or waterfall, then savor a traditional campfire dinner as your guide shares tales of the forest’s nocturnal secrets. Rest well—tomorrow’s trek will be more challenging.

DAY 3

After two nights in the wild, you’ll feel like a true explorer. Fuel up with breakfast before a 4–6 hour trek into the forest’s depths. Along the way, marvel at exotic flora and fauna, including Gunung Leuser’s eight monkey species—Orangutans, Macaques, Leaf Monkeys—and, with luck, Gibbons, Siamangs, or even the elusive Slow Loris. Rare birds like the Great Argus or Hornbills might grace the skies.

Lunch is served amid towering trees, with fresh fruit for dessert. Afterward, hike to the new campsite, where a river swim awaits. Post-dinner, opt for a night trek to spot creatures that thrive after dark—an unforgettable glimpse into the jungle’s hidden world.

DAY 4

Savor your final forest breakfast, then trek at a flexible pace tailored to your energy. After a last jungle lunch, the adventure culminates with a thrilling “jungle taxi” ride: rafting down the Bohorok River back to Bukit Lawang. Your guide will escort you to the guesthouse, leaving you with memories to treasure forever.
